For the outdoor enthusiast, opportunities abound in the Wenatchee National Forest, the Yakima Canyon and the Washington State Umptanum Wildlife Area. Both elk and bighorn sheep viewing are common activities in the valley. Elk commonly visit our ranch in the winter and wild turkey are occasionally seen foraging through our pastures. The valley is renown for its desert spring flowers in April and May. And hunting and fishing are proverbial activities rehearsed annually along the Yakima River and within the Wenatchee and Manastash Mountains. Wind surfing is common in the Columbia River Gorge. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are all common activities in the winter. Downhill skiing at Snoqualmie Pass is within an hours drive of the cabin.
However, the rugged country surrounding our ranch can be misleading. We are also conveniently located within 15 minutes of the town of Ellensburg and Central Washington University. From orchestras and museums to rodeos and the local farmers market, the town of Ellensburg holds a wealth of cultural activities and entertainment. In addition, the Columbia River Gorge Amphitheater is located within an hours drive of our ranch providing concerts and music events throughout the summer.
