4W Ranch produces naturally raised beef, pork, eggs, and chicken. We do not routinely feed antibiotics or hormones to any of our animals. Our meat is sold directly to our local customers.

Our livestock are naturally raised on pasture, fresh air and sunshine. Here at 4W Ranch the animals’ welfare is the top priority. We believe that an animal should be able to do what that animal was intended to do. Chickens are meant to scratch and peck, cows are meant to eat grass in open fields, and pigs were born to wallow in mud!

We have a small herd of Black Angus Hereford cows. They all have names and are happy grazing on irrigated pastures, lounging in the shade of the cottonwood trees and raising big healthy calves. When we are out in the pasture working, all the cows come over to help and get a good scratching. Our cows lead a very relaxing life.

Where’s the Beef?

We don’t finish our beef in a crowded feedlot atmosphere. They are free to browse fresh pasture, with the addition of all you can eat hay and grain. Usually at about 18 months old, the beeves are processed in late fall.

Healthy Choices - from hamburger to rib eye steak, the rich flavor of our beef is outstanding. You can rest assured you are making a healthy choice for your family.

Happy as a Pig in Mud...

We purchase all of our pigs when they are about 8 weeks old, from a local farmer who keeps a few sows and raises healthy piglets. Our pigs have a large pen right next to the horse corrals. The horses like to visit with the pigs through the fence. Pigs are very social animals.

A favorite pastime of pigs is to wallow in mud. They have a huge mud puddle, or 'pig spa', to enjoy at their leisure. When the pigs are about 7 months old, they are processed in late fall.

Our pigpen is equipped with automatic feeders and waterers. The feeders are stocked with an all-natural feed pellet so the pigs can eat whenever they are hungry instead of at feeding time. The pigs also have a nice house to sleep in, although they much prefer to pile up on each other and sleep outside.

Pastured Poultry...

The breed of chickens we raise is called Cornish Cross. They are bred to produce meat as opposed to producing eggs. In just 7 weeks, they go from yellow chick to a fully mature chicken weighing 5-6 pounds. The meat is thick, juicy and has that good old-fashioned flavor.

Our fryer chickens are raised outdoors on pasture, in floorless, portable pens called chicken tractors. The spacious pens are moved daily to fresh irrigated pasture. The birds feed on grasses, worms and insects, and a supplemental grain based feed.

The fertilizer is worked into the ground by the scratching and pecking that chickens do naturally, therefore improving our pastures.

Our flock of Barred Rock laying hens produces big, beautiful brown eggs. Predators can be a problem in our area so our hens are locked safely in their house at night, and are allowed to graze under supervision during the day.
